Affordable areas near Pharr?

Been meaning to ask this. Crime rate is something to consider -Pharr sits at 290.5 per 100K. Poverty rate is 27.8%, which is higher than I expected. Homes are going for about $111,500 on average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Is this normal for Pharr? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Houston about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..
