Curious what people think. I'm a teacher here and You can expect to pay around $926 for rent here. Median household income is $49,715, which feels on the lower side for the area. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Thoughts? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 14 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Sunset for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The cost of living scene is decent

The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Springfield) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Downtown for 1 years. Moved from Charlotte for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is solid - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Summers can be brutally hot. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely tough and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (West) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
