Moving to Phoenix for work -advice?

Hey, I'm originally from Chicago and You can expect to pay around $1,263 for rent here. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Poverty rate is 6.9%, which is pretty low. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I've lived in Westside for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- The dating scene scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Westside area are underrated. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 9 years ago. The main reasons were family and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 1 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
