Cost of living reality check -Phoenixville

Curious what people think. I'm single, late 50s, and Homes are going for about $348,200 on average. The median home value here is around $348,200, which seems about average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What do you all think?

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Used to live on the The Heights side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to San Diego it's decent.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 43, moved here 13 years ago from LA. I've lived in Springfield and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The cost of living situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for singles. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $70K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
