Planning a move to Picayune -neighborhoods?

Hey everyone, I'm a remote worker and It's a a small town city with about 11,839 people. The median home value here is around $146,500, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $146,500 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Should I be concerned? Any help is appreciated. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I work in marketing here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is challenging. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in South. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Bought a house here in 2024 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Came here for work and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The job market is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
