Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Chicago it's hit or miss.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 10 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Atlanta about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is average.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Good luck with whatever you decide..
