Curious what people think. The median home value here is around $621,400, which is pretty steep. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Came here for retirement and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The housing market is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Uptown area are tough. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely solid and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (West) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to New York it's surprisingly good.
