Homes are going for about $621,400 on average. It's a a smaller city city with about 60,821 people. The median home value here is around $621,400, which is pretty steep. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Any advice would be great. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is solid in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Uptown for 11 years. Moved from New York for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Far from beaches/mountains. And cultural scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'm a marketing manager and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is average.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Downtown area are average. Kids love it here.
