Poverty rate is 8.2%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,775/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Is this normal for Pico Rivera? Looking forward to hearing from you all. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Downtown area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 2 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Boston it's improving.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from New York about 7 years ago. The main reasons were weather and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is average.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Miami about 14 years ago. The main reasons were weather and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is decent.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Feel free to reach out with questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Korean places. I love the pace of life here.
