Military spouse here. Household incomes average around $59,745 in Picture Rocks. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Used to live on the North side, now on the South side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I'm a pharmacist and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Greenfield area are solid. Kids love it here.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a teacher, 42, moved here 4 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in South and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Rising rent and home prices
3. The pet-friendliness situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for retirees. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
