Hey, I'm retired and Median household income is $74,053, which feels about average for the area. Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Does this match your experience? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Springfield. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
