I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $97,238, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $261,700, which seems about average. The unemployment rate is 0.4%, which is pretty low. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What are your go-to spots? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Raleigh about 3 years ago. The main reasons were family and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is underrated.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in West. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in retail. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Cedar Grove. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in government. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Thai.
