Cheapest neighborhoods in Pinckneyville?

Alright, Rent is about $440/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $440 for rent here. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I wrong here? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in The Heights area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 11 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 32, moved here 10 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Fairview and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Limited shopping options
3. The healthcare situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for couples. solid vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $50K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.
