Working in Pine Hills -salaries realistic?

Hi all, I'm a remote worker and With a population of 82,264, Pine Hills is a smaller city. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Would love some local perspective. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in consulting. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 7 years. Moved from New York for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Limited high-paying job options. And healthcare can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 6/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely solid and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Indian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The job market is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The walkability is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
