Longtime lurker here, The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $228,000, which is actually reasonable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Tampa it's average.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Maple Ridge for 12 years. Moved from Houston for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
legal is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is solid - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Limited shopping options. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 9/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in The Heights. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Asian.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
