Anyone regret moving to Pine Ridge CDP (Citrus County)?
Random thought, I've been here for 19 years and Rent is about $1,053/month for a decent place. The suburbs are where most families end up. Has anyone dealt with this? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much manageable but now it's tough.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Portland about 8 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (North) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely challenging and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Riverside) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The food scene is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
