Career opportunities in Pine Ridge CDP (Citrus County), FL
OK so My family moved here when I was a kid. Average temperature is around 70--F, so the weather is moderate. Rent is about $1,053/month for a decent place. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Bought a house here in 2024 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 13 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Baltimore about 7 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Pittsburgh it's surprisingly good.

Used to live on the Uptown side, now on the Greenfield side. Completely different vibe. the quality of life is solid.
