Pinecrest in the winter -how bad?

Been meaning to ask this. The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Would love some local perspective. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The nightlife is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Pine Hills for 13 years. Moved from Raleigh for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Pine Hills schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Road conditions need improvement. And school system can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in Westside for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
- The walkability scene is solid

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is decent in most areas.
