Rent in Pinehurst getting crazy

First post here. I'm a 54-year-old sales rep and Poverty rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $136,406 in Pinehurst. You can expect to pay around $1,759 for rent here. Median household income is $136,406, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $585,600, which is pretty steep. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Nice parks and trails
- Low taxes

Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Lack of diversity
- Far from major airports
- Limited cultural events
- Not enough green space
What neighborhoods would you suggest? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 7 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Downtown for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The weather scene is decent

The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a HR manager and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Lakewood for 10 years. Moved from Tampa for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Road conditions need improvement. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.
