What's it really like living in Pinehurst?

Longtime lurker here, It's a a small town city with about 17,992 people. Median household income is $104,955, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $423,300 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Am I overthinking this? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from San Diego about 12 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The traffic scene is average

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Springfield for 2 years. Moved from Raleigh for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Homeless population growing downtown. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

I'm a teacher and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is tough and there's always something going on.
