Longtime lurker here, I've been here for 13 years and It's a a smaller city city with about 53,423 people. Rent is about $1,506/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $251,900 on average. Median household income is $62,043, which feels about average for the area. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What do you all think? The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to.

Came here for school and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The pet-friendliness is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Boston about 14 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is challenging.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..
