Is Pineville worth it salary-wise?

Longtime lurker here, Military spouse here. Homes are going for about $344,700 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What are your go-to spots? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Phoenix about 10 years ago. The main reasons were weather and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..
