Is Pittsburg worth it salary-wise?

OK so With a population of 75,868, Pittsburg is a smaller city. You can expect to pay around $2,201 for rent here. Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. TIA! It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (The Heights) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Nashville about 10 years ago. The main reasons were school and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Definitely worth checking out..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Denver it's average.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.
