Worst things about Pittsburg nobody talks about

Alright, With a population of 75,868, Pittsburg is a smaller city. Rent is about $2,201/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $583,100, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -Pittsburg sits at 605.7 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely improving and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Downtown) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
