Best neighborhoods to rent in Pittsburgh?

Hey folks, I'm originally from Miami and Household incomes average around $64,137 in Pittsburgh. With a population of 304K, Pittsburgh is a mid-size city. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Should I be concerned? The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Tampa about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Sunset) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in hospitality here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is tough. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
