Job hunting in Pittsburgh — tips?

You can expect to pay around $1,221 for rent here. Rent is about $1,221/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider — Pittsburgh sits at 798.1 per 100K. The median home value here is around $193,200, which is actually reasonable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cheers. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Bought a house here in 2018 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 11 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
