Curious what people think. Military spouse here. It's a a smaller city city with about 43,559 people. The median home value here is around $233,700, which is actually reasonable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Thoughts? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 7 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Midtown area are average. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Midtown for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
- The community vibe scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
