Is Pittston a good place to live?

Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Any advice would be great.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 15 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- The traffic scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Used to live on the Sunset side, now on the Highland side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Came here for school and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The school system is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in South for 2 years. Moved from Seattle for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Property taxes are high. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 46, moved here 6 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in East and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The cost of living situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for families. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $50K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Baltimore about 11 years ago. The main reasons were family and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is excellent.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Dating scene is rough. Bugs and humidity in summer. And healthcare can be frustrating.
