OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Meadowbrook. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in education. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from San Diego about 1 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Definitely worth checking out..
