How much do you pay for rent in Plainfield?

Curious what people think. We have two kids and It's a a smaller city city with about 35,783 people. Median household income is $85,074, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $1,313/month for a decent place. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. Am I overthinking this? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Sunset. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in tech. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.
