Hey everyone, Household incomes average around $85,074 in Plainfield. Median household income is $85,074, which feels pretty solid for the area. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 14 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
