Hello, I work in food service and Household incomes average around $80,334 in Plainfield. The unemployment rate is 6.8%, which is concerning. Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. Median household income is $80,334, which feels pretty solid for the area. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Austin about 5 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is solid.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.
