Been living here since 2021. Median household income is $80,334, which feels pretty solid for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in construction. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like sushi.
No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Miami about 9 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is average.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Greenfield. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely pretty good and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Fairview) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
