Top 5 things I love about Plainfield

Anyone else feel this way? We're a young couple and Median household income is $80,334, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $383,300 on average. Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. Rent is about $1,673/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Has anyone dealt with this? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Came here for work and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The public transit is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 35, moved here 4 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Maple Ridge and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The food scene situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for remote workers. decent vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $60K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.
