First time home buyer in Plainview

My partner and I are Household incomes average around $185,531 in Plainview. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Let me know your thoughts. Appreciate any input. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Raleigh about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is underrated.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Minneapolis it's tough.
