Longtime lurker here, Born and raised here. Household incomes average around $185,531 in Plainview. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Any advice would be great. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much affordable but now it's better than expected.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is average in most areas.

I've lived in Sunset for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- The pet-friendliness scene is average
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Feel free to reach out with questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 24, moved here 7 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Low crime in most neighborhoods
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Property taxes are high
3. The school system situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for young professionals. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $40K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is improving.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
- The weather scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Greenfield area are average. Kids love it here.
