Plano in the winter -how bad?

My partner and I are Median household income is $83,102, which feels pretty solid for the area. Household incomes average around $83,102 in Plano. Homes are going for about $221,100 on average. Rent is about $1,590/month for a decent place. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Should I be concerned? Any help is appreciated. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 27, moved here 1 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Eastside and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good airport with direct flights
2. Diverse dining options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The traffic situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for retirees. average vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in South. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Charlotte about 9 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is tough.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..
