I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The healthcare scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Meadowbrook for 13 years. Moved from Phoenix for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is improving - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Chain restaurants dominate. And cultural scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 5/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2021 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone about the same since then.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is decent in most areas.

Moved here from Houston about 5 years ago. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Still getting used to pet-friendliness but No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from LA about 8 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is average.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for retirement and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The cultural scene is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've been in The Heights for 10 years. Moved from Chicago for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
