The good and bad of living in Platteville

Anyone else feel this way? The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 7.4%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Platteville sits at 156.8 per 100K. The median home value here is around $186,900, which is actually reasonable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Any advice would be great. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I've lived in The Heights for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The cost of living scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a accountant and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Phoenix about 1 years ago. The main reasons were school and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is challenging.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
