Biggest downsides of living in Plattsburgh?

Anyone else feel this way? Born and raised here. Homes are going for about $189,600 on average. Household incomes average around $53,962 in Plattsburgh. Median household income is $53,962, which feels on the lower side for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Plattsburgh sits at 185.9 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Good schools
- Easy commute
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Rising rent prices
- Limited cultural events
Cheers. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Charlotte about 3 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The healthcare is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.
