Is Pleasant Hills worth it salary-wise?

Curious what people think. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cheers. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from San Francisco about 5 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Uptown. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in real estate. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Fairview. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in construction. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
