Quick question about Pleasanton

Anyone else feel this way? I'm originally from Cleveland and Rent is about $3,017/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $186,206 in Pleasanton. With a population of 77,500, Pleasanton is a smaller city. Poverty rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What would you do? Cheers. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I've lived in Highland for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
- The housing market scene is tough

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 34, moved here 12 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Westside and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Rising rent and home prices
3. The nightlife situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for couples. tough vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
