Remote worker thinking about Plymouth

Curious what people think. I grew up here but left for a while. The median home value here is around $122,200, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 8.8%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Should I be concerned? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Came here for retirement and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The walkability is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 9 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 9 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is underrated.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Happy to answer more specific questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.
