First post here. I've been here for 2 years and Crime rate is something to consider -Plymouth sits at 45.9 per 100K. With a population of 79,526, Plymouth is a smaller city. Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. Let me know your thoughts. Cheers. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely underrated and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Definitely worth checking out..
