OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 56, moved here 11 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Highland and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The traffic situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for families. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 44, moved here 5 years ago from LA. I've lived in South and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The job market situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for families. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $70K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
- The healthcare scene is decent

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I work in government here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is challenging. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 2 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
