Point Clear is underrated, change my mind

I'm a college student here and Crime rate is something to consider -Point Clear sits at 301.4 per 100K. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Thoughts? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely tough and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (The Heights) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 30, moved here 15 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Riverside and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The weather situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for retirees. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..
