Is Point Roberts worth it salary-wise?

Been living here since 2018. Crime rate is something to consider -Point Roberts sits at 40.3 per 100K. Homes are going for about $460,500 on average. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 1 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Uptown for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- The pet-friendliness scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Dallas it's solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Boston about 8 years ago. The main reasons were school and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is improving.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've been here 1 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
