I work in insurance and Poverty rate is 11.5%, which is around average. Average temperature is around 62°F, so the weather is moderate. The median home value here is around $569,600, which is pretty steep. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Anyone in a similar situation? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely excellent and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Highland) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
