First time home buyer in Pompton Lakes

So, I'm a 22-year-old pharmacist and It's a a small town city with about 11,010 people. With a population of 11,010, Pompton Lakes is a small town. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Should I be concerned? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 6 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Raleigh it's better than expected.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely average and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Springfield) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Baltimore about 1 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in The Heights for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- The nightlife scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
