Moving to Pompton Lakes with kids -good idea?

Hello, Just moved here 9 months ago and Median household income is $119,038, which feels pretty solid for the area. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Came here for work and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The food scene is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from San Francisco about 10 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is improving.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Midtown. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in government. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

No regrets on my end..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor recreation is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
